Just Add Salt Hetta Coffey Series Book 2 edition by Jinx Schwartz Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks

I have enjoyed this book as with the other books in this series. Unlike some movies with sequels that each new release gets worse, this writers books established a standard in the beginning and has held to it all the way through. Each book ends its story completely! However the characters carry through from one book to the next so that you feel like you have known them personally. The characteristics of each character and locale is defined in each book and therefore does not rely upon having read a previous book. That being said it should be noted that these character definitions don't lump up all in one or more chapters, but only as needed. It is too bad that all writers don't use this same style of writing. Things like this are what puts writers in the class with the likes of Clive Cussler etc. Suspense, humor, slight violence in short passages, some light sexual innuendo at some places but nothing descriptive and usually accompanied by humor.
Excellent writing Jinx! Keep at it.
I usually get books from the lists of free books for e readers. Once I've read one I know if I like the writing style before I spend any money on any other books by that author. Money is in extremely short supply for me so I don't want to spend money for a book I throw away because of bad writing. Based on that, I can say I wouldn't hesitate to buy any of this authors books.

Just Add Salt Hetta Coffey Series Book 2 edition by Jinx Schwartz Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

I liked this book. I realized I was one behind in series but it was fine. I don't see her as an alcoholic or any of those other things people comment on. I think some people have an unrealistic review of how people live. I may not live like book characters, but some people do, it's OK.
She is a party girl to a point and like an adventure and it is not believable but it is escapism. It is fun and now I want to go on a boat adventure. (except I get seasick). That's how a fun book should make me feel, like, hey, I want to do that.
I don't remember too many glaring editorial issues and it is a standalone in a series. I'm not easily offended and though some bad words and scenes, nothing is explicit or continual or detailed in that regard. I'm fairly tolerant of those things.
I just ordered another one of these to see what I think. Overall its a fun escape... go with that in mind
This is my third Hetta Coffey book and, sad to say, my least favorite. I can't explain it, but even with the cliches ("we don't need no stinkin'" shows up a lot), obscure literary references, and dialogue that often reads like text-speak, I had to finish the story because I like the Hetta character so much. The majority of the story covers Hetta, and her best friend Jan's trip to Mexico so Hetta can take on a job for the Tanuki corporation. Her job is to do an assessment of the area for a desal plant the Japanese want to build and make sure the plant won't harm any whales. Oddly enough, Hetta never really gets to do the assessment as they get caught in the worst hurricane in the past fifty years. I won't go any further in the story description in order to prevent spoilers, but I will say, after I finished the book, I realized there really wasn't a mystery here. The ending felt rushed and everything was loosely summed up in an epilogue. Although I was disappointed, I'll carry on with the series because Hetta is just too interesting to give up.
Okay, I admit it, I couldn't help liking this one. Sure, Hetta's perspective is a little conservative in a way that's mildly cringey, and the book's a little 80s, but this one is too fun to resist.

Hetta's narrative voice shines, and the characters are fun, and it's got the sort of engaging, uproarious events that will draw a giggle out of even reluctant readers. Nautical chick lit would hardly be something I'd peg as enjoyable, but sometimes a book is so good it transcends genre preferences. I love that Hetta's middle-aged and a dyed redhead, too; she's realistic and fun, and there aren't enough books with women over forty in the spotlight. Her relationship with Jan, a Thelma and Louise-style, er...lady bromance...is one of the most fun elements of the book.

My only real complaint is that an element hinted at in the beginning never comes to fruition, and the historical prologue didn't have enough bearing on the rest of the story. The ending's pacing is pretty wobbly, too.

Still, you don't have to read the first book to jump into the series here. I don't think I'll be able to resist reading the rest of them.
Excellent continuation of the Hetta Coffey Mystery Series Book 1. Amusing, entertaining, enough mystery to satisfy, without a lot of dead bodies piling up in what I usually read. I enjoyed this and learned in the process, about whales, history, desalination plants, our Mexican neighbors, and even that fresh water pouring into the sea is harmful to sea life.
Hetta Coffey and her best friend, Jan, are going to take Hetta' s yacht, the Raymond Johnson, from San Francisco to Mexico for a job Hetta has procured. Hetta's boyfriend is in Kuwait and she needs a third person on the boat as well as a licensed captain per maritime law. Hetta hires a captain and they set out for Mexico. Thus the crazy adventures begin. The writing is excellent. The errors are few. The characters become your friends as they come alive for the reader. I have read other Hetta Coffey books and they are excellent. I very much enjoyed this book.
